Born in Portland Oregon in 1977, Dustin grew up in the lush Columbia River Gorge where film and photography became a passion and a way to express his artistic talents. An avid sailor, surfer, and nature lover, Dustin moved to Hawaii in 1998 and resided on the islands of Kauai and Maui for 8 years. Now living in Charleston South Carolina, Dustin enjoys the Lowcountry lifestyle and the amazing variety of activities and photo opportunities in the area.

Many of his images are of High Dynamic Range which increases the the details in the highlights and dark ares of the image. This is done by taking 3 or more exposure very carefully using a tripod and remote shutter release. These images are then combined with a computer program and manually adjusted for the best tones. The third step is whether or not to create a Sepia/Black and white or leave it full of color.

As for framing, Dustin recommends framing of his black and white or Sepia images, the canvass prints are better left to the color images as they can look more like paintings that way. Dustin's favorite frame is the BBL6 Fine Bamboo which compliments very nicely all of his images and has a nice classy look. The bamboo is also extremely fast growing therefore is a very green and renewable material. The best paper for wall art is the Cotton Rag as it is real cotton and contains no acid. The acid free Archival Matte Paper may or may not contain acid as it is created using an acid and may not keep as long as the true cotton rag.
